Prototype 1.5.0 released

January 22, 2007 | In Developer

Download of the week: Sam Stephenson’s Prototype goes version one-and-a-half. It’s a JavaScript framwork that enables you to deal with Ajax calls in a “very easy” and “fun” way - oh, also extends the DOM of course - that is also safe (cross-browser).

Featuring a unique, easy-to-use toolkit for class-driven development and the nicest Ajax library around, Prototype is quickly becoming the codebase of choice for web application developers everywhere.

Pros: Documentation, AJAX, ‘as used on Digg, Blinksale, etc.’
Cons: 72Kb, 1 file, 2500 lines
